COINS Workers

Joni McAuliffe:
COINS Team Leader

We are delighted that Joni McAuliffe is the new COINS Team Leader.  Joni grew up in a loving Christian home and currently serves on the Leadership at Glendale Church.  She was a teacher for 16 years in a range of different roles, including secondary, primary and specialist education.  Joni is “incredibly excited to be able to serve Jesus and the children and young people of Newbury in this new role at COINS.”

“I have enjoyed shadowing Tania and getting to know the fabulous team; it has been an exciting and enriching few weeks.  Everyone has been so kind and welcoming.  My first endeavour was to visit all the clubs and I met many engaged and delightful young people in the different schools.  The clubs I have seen and participated in, are full of Bible stories, memory verses, exploration and joy!  In the primary schools we have been exploring Pentecost and learning about the power of the Holy Spirit.  It is clear that our young people are also experiencing the Holy Spirit themselves and the vibrant freedom He brings."

Emma Garrett:
COINS Session Worker

Emma joined the team in the autumn of 2012.  She is married to Luke and they have two children. Her drama skills are much appreciated by both the children and the rest of the team.

“I was truly blessed by joining ‘the COINS family’. I have been made very welcome by all who work with COINS but, just as importantly, by the amazing kids with whom we have the privilege to meet. Working with young people can be a challenge at the best of times, but I feel the ministry of COINS is not only worthwhile but vital to these children. What can be more rewarding or humbling than inviting children into a relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, equipping them for a Christian life in an increasingly secular society? My training as an actress and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teacher have certainly come in handy, but nothing could have prepared me so much as my walk with the Lord.”

Victoria Maxton-Livesey:
COINS Session Worker

Two new team members joined us in October 2018.  Victoria is married to Alistair and they have one son, Henry, who is 10.  Victoria was brought up in Kintbury and attended the village church, before going to a convent school in Abingdon.

“I spent a gap year in New Zealand, where I became a committed Christian.  When Ireturned to England Itrained as a nurse and attended HTB church in London.  After marrying Alistair, we moved to Bath, returning to Kintbury a few years ago.  We now attend St Nicolas’ Church in Newbury as well as supporting the local village church.  Recently I worked as a school nurse at a boys’ prep school, which I really enjoyed.  I also started the Kennet Valley ‘Filling Station’, which has been running for over a year.  Last year, after hearing about the amazing outreach work being done in schools and feeling a call to be involved, I started volunteering for COINS. It is a real privilege and a wonderful blessing to be part of such an amazing team and I feel called to go into schools to the west of Newbury, to bring the work of COINS to even more children.”

Kate Adlam:
COINS Session Worker

Kate joined us in the autumn term of 2019. She is married with two young sons. Before that she career as a neuroscientist in London.

“Since moving, our family has come to know a wonderful group of Christians in the Newbury area.  As a family, we attend St Nic’s Church in Newbury, as well as being involved in our local parish of Newtown and Burghclere. The COINS team have been so welcoming; I am really looking forward to taking Jesus into schools!”
